Standard 2: Knowledge of The Person

Join us on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 11 AM - 1 PM Eastern Time. How thorough is your knowledge of the guardianship principles the CGC consider "Knowledge of the Person?"

Guardians are expected to uncover facets of each clients life, social history, values, needs and special situations in order to create a person-centered plan that will be reported to the court. The skills needed to follow-through on this plan include working within the dynamics of a client’s family, handling challenges from difficult clients, applying guardianship's ethical principles, tailoring decisions for special populations and preventing or reporting abuse, neglect or exploitation.

In this 2-hour training, you will review ways to apply the skills from this important body of knowledge which is likely to make up as much as 17% of your certification exam. Exam-style questions presented in this course can help you prepare for guardianship certification.

Learning Objectives - You will learn definitions, expectations and applications for:
2.1 Person-Centered Planning
2.2 Family Dynamics, Diversity
2.3 Social History, Values and Beliefs
2.4 Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation
2.5 Difficult Clients
2.6 Special Populations (DD/Aging/MI/Others)

This live, virtual training is highly interactive and requires participants to engage in typed chat discussion. Participants are encouraged to speak during activities using computer microphones.

We request that participants download the “Knowledge of the Person Participant Guide” in advance and have it available to reference during the training.

The course is offered free of charge. Registration is required. 2 Ethics CEU from Center for Guardianship Certification will be awarded. Please check with your state to determine if this CEU meets your needs.

Completion rules
  • Courses are completed when you have opened and worked through every attached document, video or exam. The system will mark your course as "completed."
