For guardians, making decisions has complexities that require in-depth knowledge and skill. Which theoretical decision-making principles apply to the situation your client is facing at the moment, and how do you choose the best path to consent or non-consent? What process supports a client’s legal rights? What can you do when the least restrictive alternative comes with more losses than gains? What ethical principles must be considered?
In this 2-hour training, you will review ways to apply the skills from this essential body of knowledge which is likely to make up as much as 13% of your certification exam. Exam-style questions presented in this course can help you prepare for guardianship certification.
Learning Objectives - You will learn definitions, expectations and applications for:
3.1 Decisional Standards Alternatives
32. Informed Consent
3.3 Capacity
3.4 Least Restrictive Alternatives
3.6 Person’s Rights
We recommend members download the “Application of Surrogate Decision-Making Participant Guide” and have it available to reference during the training.
