Standard 7: Medical Decision-Making

Join us on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 11 AM - 1 PM Eastern Time. Medical decisions can be complex and challenging. In this 2-hour training, we explore the guardian’s role and obligations when making decisions about a client’s medical treatment during many different stages of the client’s life or illnesses. Ethics and advocacy will be explored.

This information is likely to make up as much as 14% of your certification exam. Exam-style questions presented in this course can help you prepare for guardianship certification.

Learning Objectives - You will learn definitions, expectations and applications for:
7.2 End of Life Care
7.3 Special Conditions
7.4 Medical Advocacy
7.5 DNR/Withhold/Withdraw
7.6 Power of Attorney for Healthcare

This live, virtual training is highly interactive and requires participants to engage in typed chat discussion. Participants are encouraged to speak during activities using computer microphones.

We request that participants download the “Medical Decision-Making Participant Guide” in advance and have it available to reference during the training.

The course is offered free of charge. Registration is required. 2 Ethics CEU from Center for Guardianship Certification will be awarded. Please check with your state to determine if this CEU meets your needs.
